665 has long been a supporter of our cause. For that we would like to thank JSP and his lovely girlfriend Dana for their nobility and financial offerings.

What is epilepsy?

The Mayo Clinic, for example, defines epilepsy this way: "Epilepsy is defined as having two or more unprovoked seizures. (An example of a provoked seizure is one caused by a high fever or head trauma.) A seizure is caused by an abnormal firing of brain cells, which can result in the sudden occurrence of any activity that's coordinated by the brain. This can include slight transient confusion, complete loss of consciousness, or uncontrollable movements of the arms or legs. Although about 70 percent of people with epilepsy can gain control of their seizures with a single antiepileptic drug (AED), the remaining 30 percent may have significant problems due to their seizures."

Clearly, this is not a problem to be taken lightly, or to be ignored. Millions of people suffer from epilepsy every day, and many don't even know they have it. We here at the Effrew J. Ropey Epilepsy Foundation are here to help. We wish to raise awareness through community programs, and to aid others in their pursuits of not only happiness, but independent, unassisted living. Though the project is currently in its infancy, we are growing every day. Contact us for more info.
